MIDLANDS’ MEMO! Midlands Memo 5Welcome back from what I hope was a restful Summer break. As always it was wonderful to visit the excellent county camps around the Region and to see so many of our young, and not so young, members having a fantastic time. Sincere thanks to all of you who gave your time to help run any camps, International adventures or activity days held this year. A highlight for me was to ‘release’ and then ‘parole’ the 8 county teams who took part in this year’s ‘Jailbreak’. I am really looking forward to the presentation day and finding out who will be this year’s winners!! Well done to all the teams, you all deserve to win! ‘Bonkers at Conkers’ was a superb day and all the guides enjoyed an action packed day that finished with an excellent Boyband! I am sure the second day in September will be just as good. Thanks to Penny Scothern and her team for a truly memorable day. Over 3,000 Rainbows from across the Region will gather this September to celebrate their 21st and later this year every Rainbow Unit will be receiving a gift from Region with our congratulations. Well done and thanks to Sue Newman and her team for their hard work. SWITCH will be coming towards its end over the next year, but our Grants Panel are worried because they still have money to give away that must be given by the New Year. This is for the Guide and Senior Section age. If you are interested, ask your commissioner for details or watch out for the flyer coming out in September. Thanks to Alison Pellet and the panel for their hard work in this area. We are really getting into Centenary Mode now with the launch of the ‘Change the World’ Challenge in September. The resources are wonderful, full of great ideas so hopefully thousands of our members across Midlands and the UK will be working to change the world for the better! Finally, as always, a personal thank you for all you do for this wonderful movement. The girls and young women you support are very, very lucky to have such dedicated volunteers . Lesley Knighton
