Girlguiding Midlands hosted a huge celebration for guiding volunteers from across the Midlands to thank them for empowering a generation of young women.
Over 2000 volunteers joined together for a day of fun, friendship and celebration at Ragley Hall, near Alcester in Warwickshire on 28th June.
The event was held to thank volunteers for the thousands of hours they have dedicated to giving girls in guiding amazing experiences - from supporting them to take part in exciting regional events and international adventures, to providing them with a safe space where they can have fun with their friends every week.
During the day volunteers were able to relax and unwind in the picturesque setting of Ragley Hall while enjoying entertainment and refreshments.
The event was also held to bid a fond farewell to Sally Illsley, Girlguiding Midlands Chief Commissioner – Girlguiding’s most senior volunteer in the Midlands, and her assistant Dee Miles.
Sally said “Girlguiding Midlands is a true champion of girls and young women. During my five years as Chief Commissioner I’ve seen thousands of girls travel the globe, speak out on issues that matter to them and take on challenges that take them out of their comfort zones. It’s been fantastic to see girls develop their confidence and potential and I’m looking forward to continuing to support these brilliant girls and young women in guiding.”
