Girls and their Leaders from across the Region beyond celebrated 100 years of Girlguiding’s Senior Section at a special weekend camp.
Over 150 members attended Carnival Fever - our Rio style celebration camp- at Blackwell Adventure, near Birmingham, which took place August 19 - 21.
Activities during the weekend varied from the adventurous - including the stomach churning 3G swing pictured above -to the more tame - including making carnival masks and floats for a parade on Saturday night. Girls also enjoyed ziplining, climbing, a silent disco, roller skating, yoga and making lumineres.
Girls led on the celebrations in the Midlands - the organising team behind the event; Natalie Gill, Charlotte Sankey and Kat Leeming (pictured above top) are all members of The Senior Section. The event was also attended by Chief Guide Valerie Le Vaillant and her daughters.
The Senior Section enables girls and young women aged 14 to 25 to be involved with Girlguiding in a flexible way, with each young woman choosing her own level of commitment; from attending a Senior Section group to training as a Young Leader with Girlguiding’s younger sections, Rainbows (5-7 years), Brownies (7-10) and Guides (10-14).
