Adventurous girls from across the Midlands Region enjoyed an international adventure this summer as they travelled Stateside.
11 teams of Girls and their Leaders spent 10 days exploring North America, heading to various destinations including New York, Boston, Washington, Miami and Toronto.
The trip started off with an opening ceremony in London’s Hyde Park, with a send off from Chief Guide Valerie Le Vaillant.
Each team of girls chose their own itinerary of sightseeing and activities and completed a number of challenges along the way, earning themselves points in the hope of winning the coveted Stateside trophy.
Challenges included meeting Girl Scouts, trying different delicacies and travelling on various forms of transport. Each team also completed a day of social action by volunteering for various causes included soup kitchens and litter picking.
New York’s Central Park was the venue for the closing ceremony – where Girlguiding Northamptonshire’s Princess Posse were crowned as winners and presented with the trophy.
The trip was organised by Girlguiding Midlands in celebration of The Senior Sections Spectacular – a year long celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 14 – 25 age group of Girlguiding.
