If every single member of Girlguiding Midlands raised just £1, between us we would raise £72,000 - enough to fund 2,500 Macmillan Nursing hours. We have some fabulous fundraising activities for you to get involved in to help us reach our target. We are focusing on a key fundraising event each term - in Spring Mile for Macmillan, in Summer Dress Up and Dance and in Autumn World's Biggest Coffee Morning - however you and your girls can choose to do any of the activities at any time you wish. Plus each of these events has a badge available to order. There are also a number of running events which you and your girls could choose to get involved with.

Mile for Macmillan

What is it?

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, get warmed up by organising your Mile for Macmillan. Wear a funny hat and give a prize for the funniest one as you run through the Autumn leaves. Why not turn it into an evening of apple bobbing and autumn crafts?  Girls can either get sponsored or make a donation to take part - and don’t forget to order the Mile for Macmillan badge.

When is it?

We’d like you to take on this challenge in the first term of 2017. It’s a great way to dust off the cobwebs from Christmas and get active again.

World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

What is it?

World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest and most well-known fundraising event. Around 300,000 hosted a coffee morning last year, with millions attending one. It’s a great opportunity to get baking and compete for the ‘best baker’ award and change lives with every slice. You could also tie in this event with an open evening to recruit new members and volunteers.

Don't forget to order your girls a Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning badge for taking part.

When is it?

The official date for coffee morning is 29 September 2017, however you can host your coffee morning or coffee evening anytime in the autumn.

How do we get involved

Sign up for a pack has now closed, however there are lots of downloads over on the Macmillan Website if you still want to take part. Don't forget to send your money to Girlguiding Midlands, following the instructions on our FAQs page, in order for your fundraising to count towards The Macmillan Challenge.

The Smarties Challenge

What is it?

The Smarties Challenge is a fun easy way to get your unit involved in fundraising for Macmillan. Simply make sure every girl has a smarties tube, and ask them to collect donations to fill up the tube.

A smarties tube can fit around £28 pound coins in it – which happens to be how much it costs Macmillan to fund an hour of nursing care. Set your girls the target of each raising £28 to power an hour of a Macmillan Nurse, helping people diagnosed from cancer from their diagnosis throughout their whole cancer journey.

When is it?

You can do the Smarties Challenge anytime!
