What does the role of Asst. Region Safeguarding Officer involve?
The role involves working closely with the Safegaurding Lead for the Midlands and other regions as well as the Safegaurding team at CHQ. It also aims to support comissioners and leaders once a concern has been passed on from CHQ and to support leaders through difficult conversations if the need arises. It is also to collaborate, gather information and agree case management with the Safegaurding lead and team.What do you hope to achieve as part of this role?
By being part of the team I hope to use my knowledge and understanding to make guiding a safe space for girls, their families and all our volunteers..
What other roles do you have in guiding?
My other roles are currently Rainbow leader with 231st Birmingham Rainbows, Cole Valley.What relevant previous experiences have you had which led you to this Region role?
My safe Gaurding experience is 16 years as a
parent governor, the last 10 years a s designated Safegaurding Governor in a 2
form entry school in a deprived area of North Birmingham.
What is your favourite thing you have done, or your greatest achievement, as a member of Girlguiding?
My biggest achievement is being part of the 231st team that took the girls away on their 1st sleepover I. The 30 year history of the unit. We have since taken the girls away every 6 months.
What do you enjoy outside guiding?
Outside of Girlguiding I enjoy reading, camping, cake deorating and listening to music
What is your favourite biscuit and why?
My favourite biscuit, erm this is a hard one as it depends on my mood and reason for eating it. But I think my go to biscuit would have to be a lotus biscotti biscuit because it goes so well with coffee, well they go well with anything including cheesecake and ice cream.What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?
3 words to describe me, you would probably get a variety of answers depending on who you ask..but crazy would defo be one, fun-loving and understanding..
