Become a volunteerThe adult support team plays an important role in ensuring every volunteer across Girlguiding Midlands feels confident, equipped and supported in their role. We are responsible for delivering high‑quality training, which helps volunteers grow their skills and provide the best possible experience for girls and young women.
Our team focus on a key areas of volunteer development:
Trainer development
Deborah and Lynsey lead on supporting our trainers, ensuring they have the skills and confidence needed to deliver engaging and effective training across the region.
Trainee trainers & TDP
Ange supports trainee trainers working through the trainer development programme (TDP). She also appoints mentors, helping new trainers feel supported throughout their journey.
Mandy – 1st response & external first aid
Mandy oversees our 1st response trainers and verifies external first aid qualifications, ensuring volunteers are compliant.
Wendy – commissioner training
Wendy ensures our commissioners receive the training and support they need to lead effectively. This includes commissioner conferences, Chat with Confidence online workshops and twice‑yearly weekends for new commissioners.
Claire – young leader support
Claire supports our young leaders, delivering day and weekend events that include training on the young leader development programme (YLDP). She also provides guidance for leaders working alongside young leaders in their units.
