I am a unit helper with Brownies and Guides. During the current situation surrounding social distancing we are obviously unable to meet or attend planned residentials. However, it is going to take slightly more than a pandemic to stop our girls.
Our Guide unit are having a virtual camp at the end of this month. Now, everyone knows that camp takes a lot of preparation. With this in mind I have been running a camp countdown each day since the beginning of the month. At the time of writing we have 7 days to go.
Below are some of the things we have been up to in preparation for our virtual camp:
● Build a camp scene using anything you can find (no humans allowed).
Update your blankets. There were several amazing pictures from the girls for this one but these, unfortunately, can’t be shared
● Answered a couple of camp-based riddles.
● Discussed what to pack and what not to pack (yes we are packing for this camp).
● Shared our favourite camp foods (eggy bread is popular).
● And lots more…
Of course, no camp would be complete without a campfire. Therefore, a songbook has been compiled and next week we shall be having a virtual campfire.
We may be apart for now but I think Guiding will always find ways to stay together.
