Each Girlguiding section is different, comes with its own challenges and rewards. Though some similar ones too.
When it comes to Rainbows it’s their limited reading and writing skills, and seeing them do something they didn’t think they could or that scared them.
In my time at Central Chesterfield Rainbows I have helped the Rainbows make Christmas decorations for the local Christmas tree festival, learn about American culture and Girl Scouting, got them to think about what makes a good person, and visited The Deep in Hull.
Seeing how excited they get at a new badge or seeing penguins, the pride they have in a craft or winning a game is why I do it. Seeing them go from quiet and nervous to loud, confident with beaming smiles is why I do it.
Behind the scenes there is admin; planning and organising weekly meetings, answering questions from parents and chasing up forms. But all that is worth it for the happy, smiley faces you get to see each week.
