Become a volunteerJuliette Low Seminar (JLS) is an international leadership development programme run by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). Over the course of 9 months you attend virtual seminars and workshops learning about the WAGGGS Leadership Mindsets, how to implement them into your own leadership and your membership organisation.
This culminates in a full weekend of virtual sessions to help us plan a 100 Girls Project, that we delivered between January and June 2023. The project must be based on or use the WAGGGS Leadership Mindsets, and be delivered to members aged 12 to 18 from your Member Organisation, in my case Girlguiding UK.
The final weekend was made even more exciting by the opportunity to visit Pax Lodge, a WAGGGS World Centre in London, and meet the other UK delegates.
My project was called “This Girl Can… …Be A Leader” and was about inspiring Guides and Rangers to become leaders, and get them thinking about all the different ways they can be a leader in their unit. I hope this will help get more young members to become leaders when they turn 18. I reached 136 Girlguiding Members aged 12 to 18.
Upon completion of the programme we got a badge, and it is massive. I am very proud of this, and getting involved in international experiences with WAGGGS.
