Could you help to lead and inspire our young members on international adventures in 2028?
We are looking for leaders for our four international experiences in 2028.
In 2028, we will be travelling to:
· Long haul to Ghana
· Wide game trip to Bavaria
· European adventure trip to Montenegro
· ICE Cornwall
We are looking for passionate leaders who can work as part of a team to deliver these adventures in 2028 for our young members. Between October 2026 and the trip, itself in 2028 you will be expected to plan the trips, support the participants before embarking on your adventure in 2028.
International trip leaders have many skills and attributes, but we are particularly looking for leaders who are good communicators, good team players, planners, work well in a team, able to solve problems and are enthusiastic to travel.
For all trips there is a % bursary for the trip leadership team to support them in covering the trip costs alongside the planning and organising of the event.
To apply for this opportunity, you must complete a online application form and you will be required to attend a selection event. This will help us match trip leaders with the correct trip as well as matching up leadership teams.

Ever wondered what’s involved in being part of the leadership team on an international trip? Join this online session and ask all your questions about leading an international trip for region, your county or even your unit – there’s tons of support available. We’ve timed this session to allow you to register for adult selection for 2028 region international trips.

We will be holding an information session for adult volunteers interested in leading region international trips and leaders looking into how they can get involved in international at a division or unit level.
When: Wednesday 2 September 2026, 7:30pm to 8:30pm

How do I sign up: You will need to complete an online form, this will also give you the chance to add any questions that you would like us to answer.

Attending this online session will give you all the information needed to apply to be a trip leader for a region trip. However, you will need to complete an application form to attend the selection event separately. You can find more information here.
Briefing day for pre-selected leaders for our 2026 international trips – if you’d like to be part of a trip leadership team in 2028 join our selection day in September.
Everyone needs to have the correct level of asafe space training for their role. You may have your membership withdrawn if you don’t complete the levels you need. Find out what level you need here.
We recommend that all leaders, assistant leaders and leaders in training complete level 3, but it’s not a mandatory requirement. If you’re working on the leader development programme, you’ll need to have level 3 to have the role of leader added.
By the end of the course you will have:
Looked at signs and indicators of harm and abuse
Learnt how to deal with emotions through safeguarding concerns
Learnt how the reporting process steps apply to your role
Identified key documents and where to find them
Identified how to apply a risk assessment in different scenarios
Been reminded about your role and which hat you wear
