Below are some of the amazing opportunities Girlguiding has given me.

Gold Project

I was fortunate to be part of the 2017 gold project in Oman, with 5 other team members. It was the 1st year of the project project and we focused on growth and retention, alongside  leadership with rangers and leaders in 3 different parts of the country. We set the footings for the 5 year project. From being part of a GOLD team it allowed me to work part of a team in situations out of our control, as well as allowing me to adapt to work with other cultures.

Queens guide

I attained my Queens guide award in 2015, as part of it I completed an exploration in Brighton of an A- Z with 3 other girls also doing their award. On completion of my award I became my county adviser. By completing my Queens Guide it allowed me to overcome challenges while completing it alongside my degree. From gaining this award I had the opportunity to celebrate with my county and had the opportunity to have my main award ceremony in the house of commons, on the Queen’s official birthday.  It allowed me to believe in myself and achieve goals I didn’t think I would.

Adviser

I have been the Shropshire Queens Guide Adviser for 7 years now. I have been able to recruit more girls to do their award, updated the county information and also was able to be an Adviser during the global pandemic. By being an Adviser it has allowed me to help others achieve their awards, by being able to aid them in their journey. Being able to help others through this award is an amazing opportunity as I am able to watch them develop and achieve their awards.

Leadership role

I have had various leadership roles in Girlguiding, starting with being in charge of a unit while at university to coming home and taking over a unit and helping others when needed. Being a leader in various roles has allowed me to watch girls develop in confidence and achieve their dreams.

Qualifications

I have attained my Baden Powell, Queens Guide awards while in Girlguiding. Setting myself challenges and both awards have not been easy either. It has allowed me to develop as a person, gain confidence while having an enjoyable time at the same time
