Become a volunteerGirlguiding Inspire is an amazing community of 18 to 30-year-olds within Girlguiding where you can choose which path you want to take. This means you can take part in international events such as the European Jamboree, be a leader in a unit, help make change happen by ensuring your voice is heard or experience events on both a small and large scale.
As a member of the Girlguiding Inspire community, there are seven themed pathways for you to pick between. You can mix and match to create the perfect pathway just for you from the seven different pathways below:
Adventure & Challenge
Outdoor and adventurous activities of any kind fit into this pathway; it allows you to challenge yourself as well as experience all things outdoors. In some cases, you’ll be able to work towards a formal qualification if you wish such as through the climbing and abseiling scheme.
Examples of this pathway: Have adventures at a Girlguiding activity centre, complete the Going Away with Scheme, Duke of Edinburgh Award, rock climbing etc.
Beyond the UK

Event Experience
This pathway allows you to develop your practical skills and experience organising events which in turn will help you to organise and run your own. Every year there are numerous large-scale events put on by Girlguiding that couldn’t run without the help of volunteers, you can help to organise and run these events all whilst getting to experience the fun at the same time.
Examples of this pathway: Volunteering at Girlguiding festivals, helping to organise region and county events and volunteering, leading international events for young people.
Voice & Action
This pathway allows you to ensure your voice is heard. You can campaign on issues that are important to you, get involved in your community and make a difference by encouraging them to take action or help to support girls and young women to make their voice heard.
Examples of this pathway: Join the Advocate Panel, become an Action For Change member or coach, be a Girlguiding campaign supporter, join a campaign whether it be local, national or international.
Sharing Skills
This pathway allows you to develop and share your skills. This could be as a regular volunteer in a unit or by being a flexible volunteer who can help out units for specific tasks such as a walking leader or helping units with boating sessions. These can take up as much or as little of your time as you want them too.
Examples of this pathway: Holiday guiding, holding a supporting guiding role such as doing the accounts for your district, leading geocaching events for units.
Leading the Way
This pathway allows you to develop your leadership skills but doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be a regular unit volunteer, there are many ways you can take the lead as a Girlguiding member.
Examples of this pathway: Leadership Qualification, residential trip helper, become a trainer, adviser or coordinator.
Developing Others
This pathway allows you to support girls and young women to be their best, you can help others develop their skills and /or their knowledge in a specific area. This could be sharing skills with young members in a unit or with adult volunteers at a training session.
Examples for this pathway: become a Peer educator, mentoring others to complete Girlguiding Qualifications, become a Girlguiding qualified trainer.
As well as the pathways you can achieve awards and access learning, or just have fun and socialise with other members, what you choose to do is entirely up to you.
Learning & Awards
As part of Girlguiding Inspire, you can complete many awards and courses to show just what you can do. This might include the Queens Guide Award, Duke of Edinburgh Award or the many pieces of training and e-learnings available through Girlguiding.
Just For Me
You don’t have to take part in any of the pathways, you could decide just to have fun and socialise with peers in Girlguiding through the national, region and county events.
