Top tips for getting involved with and submitting content to Your Hub
- Do it your way – We are looking for all sorts of submissions, including post blogs, vlogs, poems etc. Submissions don’t necessarily have to be a blog post so if you aren’t a fan of writing, feel free to get creative!
- Choose something you are passionate about – This is your online community and we want it to be shaped by you and what you are passionate about. We want to hear about your experiences, thoughts and talents both inside guiding and outside of guiding too. We are grouping submissions around the different pathways (see The Pathway blog post here for more details!) and you will receive a different badge for your submission dependent on which pathway it links to. However ‘Just for me’ can include anything and everything, for example, your favourite recipe or a review of that book you have just finished and couldn’t put down.
- A picture is worth a thousand words – If you decide to write a blog post and you are happy to share photos relating to your piece, please send them into us when you submit your blog. It is amazing to see photographs of your experiences, from your successful bakes to your travels or even your latest badge.
- Be yourself – Just be chatty and yourself whether this is in your video, vlog or blog post. If you are struggling where to start just imagine you are having a chat with a friend and take it from there. There is no need to be formal, just be you and down to earth. If you would like to do a blog post and struggle with writing and grammar, please don’t worry and let this stop you. All blog posts are reviewed and proofread by the Your Hub team so have a go and we can then work with you to finish and polish your post before it is published.
- How long is a piece of string – There is no minimum or maximum length of blog post or video. This post for example is just over 500 words long. However, if you have lots to share, such as all your amazing experiences from your Queens Guide or Duke of Edinburgh award, you could pick one part of your award to talk about. Alternatively, you could use headings to split up your blog post or even make multiple submissions, such as a mini-series of blog posts or vlogs.
- Get in touch with the Your Hub team – Feel free to drop us an email if you have an idea and what to run it past us first. If you have created your piece, email it to us and all your submissions are reviewed by 2 members of the Your Hub team before publishing. More importantly, we will be in touch so we can send you a badge for your submission. We have a special set of Your Hub badges and once we have published your submission, you will receive one of our 9 badges, depending on what pathway it relates to. And for all you badge collectors out there that want to collect the full Your Hub collection for your badge blanket, please keep submitting your content based on each of the pathways!
